EKO HOT BLOG reports that in a statement signed on his behalf by the Chief Press Secretary, Abdulquadri Jimba, the chairman said the curfew took effect from 6 am on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.
According to the statement, the restriction affects all human and vehicular movement across the entire Oro Ago district.
Yusuf said the decision was taken to support ongoing security clearance operations aimed at restoring peace and protecting lives and property.
“The curfew goes into effect by 6 am on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, in a coordinated effort to put terrorists in disarray and protect lives and property in the area.
“Within this period, there will be no human or vehicular traffic in the entire district. This is in support of the ongoing security clearance operation in the area. Further reviews of this measure will be communicated,” the statement said.
The local government assured residents that updates would be provided after the security situation is reviewed.
The curfew comes days after the Kwara State Government ordered the immediate closure of the Kwara State College of Education, Oro, due to worsening security concerns in the area.
The directive was contained in an internal memo dated January 20, 2026, issued by the Kwara State Ministry of Tertiary Education, Science and Technology.
The memo, signed by the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu, directed the management of the institution to suspend all academic activities with immediate effect.
The closure was approved by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq as part of broader measures to address insecurity in Ifelodun Local Government Area.

According to the document, the decision formed part of a wider government order to shut all schools within the affected local government area until security improves.
