Former senator representing Zamfara Central Senatorial District, Kabir Marafa, has dismissed reports claiming that he has returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the information as false and misleading.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that Marafa urged Nigerians to ignore the report, which was circulated by an online platform, alleging that he had rejoined the ruling party alongside his supporters.

Reacting through a statement issued on Thursday by the Director-General (New Media), Media Office of Marafa, Mansur Haruna, the former lawmaker said the claim was “fake, baseless and deliberately misleading.”

Marafa, who served in the Senate from 2011 to 2019 and was the Zamfara State Campaign Coordinator for President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election, stressed that he formally resigned from the APC on August 28, 2025.
According to the statement, his exit from the party was carried out alongside thousands of supporters spread across the 14 local government areas of Zamfara State, following what he described at the time as being “used and dumped” by the party.
Haruna called on media organisations to uphold professional standards and avoid publishing unverified reports capable of misleading the public.
“Our attention has been drawn to a publication by the online platform ‘Ripples Nigeria’, which falsely claimed that Senator Kabir Garba Marafa has returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC) alongside his supporters,” the statement read.

“We categorically reject, refute and distance ourselves from this false, baseless and deliberately misleading report, which is clearly sponsored propaganda aimed at confusing the public and tarnishing the hard-earned reputation of our political leader.”
The media office also faulted the report for what it described as glaring factual errors, including wrongly referring to Marafa as a former member of the House of Representatives.
“Senator Kabir Garba Marafa, OFR, CON (Marafan Gusau), is a former Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria who proudly represented Zamfara Central Senatorial District from 2011 to 2019,” Haruna clarified.
The statement further debunked claims that Marafa hails from Sokoto State, stressing that he is a bona fide indigene of Zamfara State, a fact it said is widely known and easily verifiable.
It also dismissed as fictitious the allegation that Marafa defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2018.
“There is no record, declaration or historical basis to support such an assertion. It is entirely false, misleading and born out of political mischief,” the statement added.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Senator Kabir Garba Marafa formally resigned from the APC on August 28, 2025. Since that resignation, there has been no official declaration by him or his political associates indicating membership of, or return to, any political party.”
Haruna warned media platforms against speculation, noting that any future political decision by the former senator would be formally announced.
“When Senator Kabir Garba Marafa decides to align with or join any political platform, he will transparently communicate such a decision, as he openly did when he left the APC,” he said.
The media office urged the public, party members and supporters to completely disregard the report and called on journalists to maintain accuracy and responsibility in political reporting.
