In a major political move in Nasarawa State, Hon. Akala Samuel Gajere, a former Karu local government chairman and prominent chieftain, has left the All Progressives Congress (APC) to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Over 5,000 of his supporters, a group known as “Munatare,” have also joined him in the defection.
Akala officially resigned his membership in a letter dated August 22, 2025, which he submitted to his ward in Karu Local Government.
In the letter, Eko Hot Blog reports that he thanked the APC for his past opportunities but urged the party leadership to strengthen its internal democratic processes to give all members a sense of belonging.

His departure comes amid internal conflicts and a leadership crisis that has plagued the Nasarawa State chapter of the ruling party.
Political analysts believe this mass defection could create a significant opportunity for the opposition in the 2027 elections if the APC fails to address its internal divisions.
Akala and his thousands of supporters hope to find a more united and inclusive platform with the ADC.
