Despite the challenges confronting society, Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has encouraged members of the Lagos Country Club to remain resilient, united and optimistic about the future.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Governor gave the charge at the club’s 2026 New Year Party, held in Lagos over the weekend. Speaking through the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, Sanwo-Olu described the club as a symbol of unity, harmony and the enduring “can-do” spirit that defines Lagos.

He noted that Lagos State and the Lagos Country Club share similar values, including resilience, courage, endurance and the ability to rise again even when situations appear overwhelming. According to him, these qualities have continued to define the state and its people over the years.
In his welcome address, President of Lagos Country Club, Seyi Adewunmi, said the club is more than a social gathering, describing it as a thriving community of over 3,000 financial members. He said the membership comprises top professionals, captains of industry and influential opinion leaders who contribute meaningfully to national development.

Adewunmi also unveiled the club’s vision for 2026, which focuses on integrity in governance, improved member experience, infrastructure renewal and the pursuit of strategic partnerships.
Also speaking at the event, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Kola Oyefeso, described the club as an enduring family built on shared values. He urged members to continually demonstrate love through understanding, tolerance and commitment to the collective good.
According to him, these values have sustained the Lagos Country Club over the years and must remain the foundation for its future growth.
