The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 47 suspects in coordinated operations across the state, including an 18 year old intercepted while attempting to collect a ₦20 million ransom.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, disclosed this during a press briefing at the command headquarters in Ikeja, where items recovered from various crime scenes were displayed.

According to him, the suspects were arrested for offences including armed robbery, cult related activities, conspiracy, theft, threats to life, and unlawful possession of firearms.
Fatai said the operations, supported by collaboration with other security agencies and residents, contributed to a peaceful Easter celebration with no major security breaches.
Recovered items include 14 firearms, 96 rounds of ammunition, 29 live cartridges, 14 vehicles, two laptops, 29 mobile phones, and a flash drive.
One of the suspects, Israel Osanwuta, was apprehended during a decoy operation in Ojokoro while attempting to collect ransom. He was arrested around 10:55 pm, with a laptop and flash drive recovered, and reportedly confessed to a previous attempted bank burglary.
In Amukoko, police arrested a suspected armed robber, Jamiu Yahaya, also known as “Elesin,” with a locally made pistol and cartridges.

Another suspect, Sunday Daniel, was detained in Ajegunle and allegedly confessed to being a member of the Aiye confraternity.
The police also arrested 21 suspected cultists at a hotel gathering in Ajao Estate held to celebrate the birthday of a wanted gang member identified as “Actor,” who remains at large. Recovered items included a firearm, cult materials, a laptop, and 23 mobile phones.
Further operations led to the arrest of five members of a car theft syndicate, with a Toyota Sienna and Toyota Camry recovered, as well as suspects linked to vehicle vandalism in Lekki and armed robbery in Ikotun and Egbeda.
A 52 year old suspect, Adedayo Bello, was also arrested for allegedly concealing a firearm and 96 rounds of ammunition inside a pillow.
In another case, Robert Smith, a 62 year old alleged fraudster, was arrested for reportedly defrauding a microfinance bank of ₦130 million. Police recovered six vehicles valued at over ₦520 million from him.
Additional arrests were made in Iba, Egbin, Ogba, and Ifako Ijaiye, involving suspects linked to robbery, cultism, and drug related offences.
Fatai assured that all suspects would be charged in court after investigations, reaffirming the command’s commitment to tackling crime and maintaining security across the state.
