The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has intercepted 25 kilograms of cocaine valued at over N1 billion at the Seme border in Lagos State, with one suspect arrested in connection with the seizure.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, represented by the Deputy Comptroller-General in charge of Enforcement, Timi Bomodi, disclosed that the arrest was made in the early hours of February 10, 2026.

According to Customs authorities, officers stopped a Toyota Highlander along the Badagry–Seme corridor and discovered 22 packages suspected to contain cocaine concealed in the vehicle.
The agency stated that the interception was carried out in line with Section 55(1)(c) of the Nigeria Customs Service Act, 2023, which empowers the Service to enforce import and export prohibitions aimed at protecting human, animal and plant health.

Following the seizure, the illicit drugs, the vehicle and the suspect were handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Lagos Strategic Command for further investigation and prosecution.
The Comptroller-General commended the vigilance and professionalism of the officers involved, describing the operation as a clear demonstration of the Service’s commitment to safeguarding public health and strengthening national security.
