The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has confirmed the arrival of about 100 United States military personnel and related equipment at Bauchi Airfield as part of a bilateral military cooperation initiative.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in a statement issued on Monday, Director of Defence Information, Major General Samaila Uba, said the deployment followed a formal request by the Federal Government and is aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s military capacity through training and technical support.

According to him, the visiting American personnel are not combat troops but technical specialists serving strictly in advisory and training roles.
He stressed that all activities will be carried out under the authority and supervision of the Nigerian government and in coordination with the Nigerian Armed Forces.
The DHQ explained that the partnership is designed to enhance Nigeria’s ability to counter terrorist threats and improve the protection of vulnerable communities across the country.

Uba added that Nigerian troops and the US advisers will engage in joint training sessions and intelligence-sharing initiatives to strengthen operational effectiveness.
Reaffirming its commitment to national security, the Defence Headquarters assured Nigerians that it would maintain transparency by providing clear and timely information regarding the ongoing military cooperation.
