The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, has said Nigeria’s security challenges are not insurmountable, expressing confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s approach to tackling insecurity.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the 44th Olubadan made the remarks on Friday during a thank-you visit to President Tinubu at the State House, Abuja, following the President’s attendance at his coronation ceremony on September 27, 2025.

Oba Ladoja acknowledged that insecurity remained Nigeria’s most pressing challenge but said recent government actions showed a clear commitment to restoring peace and stability across the country.
“I don’t think it is insurmountable. By and large, we believe that the President is tackling it correctly now,” the traditional ruler said.
He urged the Federal Government to intensify interventions in food security and healthcare, stressing that farmers’ access to farmlands was critical to addressing food shortages.
According to him, insecurity has increasingly made it difficult for farmers to cultivate their lands, with the situation spreading from the northern parts of the country to the south.

“We expect the government to work more on food security and healthcare. We should have standard hospitals where our people can be treated properly. But the major challenge we have now is insecurity. Farmers find it difficult to go to their farms, and the problem is already spreading to the South,” he said.
The Olubadan also commended the economic reforms introduced by the Tinubu administration, noting that economic stability remained central to national development. He expressed optimism that the ongoing reforms would yield positive results over time.
“I believe the economy has to be fixed, and it is being fixed. We hope that by the time he leaves office in 2031, Nigeria will be in a position that we can all be proud of,” he said.
Oba Ladoja further observed that Nigeria’s situation was not as dire as often portrayed, pointing out that states now have greater financial capacity than in previous years to meet their obligations.
He attributed this to improved revenue inflows, noting that stronger state finances should complement federal efforts at national development.
The monarch said he used the visit to formally thank President Tinubu for attending his coronation and to discuss recent national developments.
“Since September 26, I have been looking for the opportunity to thank him for attending my coronation. I am happy to do so now and to tell him that the people of Ibadan are pleased with the direction the country is taking,” he said.
