The Abia State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a woman in Umuahia, the state capital, over the alleged killing of her husband, an officer of the Nigeria Immigration Service.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the state Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa, said the suspect was taken into custody and is currently being interrogated at the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in connection with a murder case.

The deceased, identified as Chidiebere James, was serving at the Abia State Command of the Immigration Service. The incident reportedly occurred in Umuihi, Umuogba Ekeoba, in Ohuhu, Umuahia North Local Government Area.
According to reports, the tragedy followed a domestic disagreement between the couple. An eyewitness and family member confirmed that the officer was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia, where he was later pronounced dead. The incident was said to have occurred in the early hours of Monday, February 16, 2026.
Sources indicated that tensions began on Sunday after a dispute concerning their sick child and financial challenges related to medical treatment. The argument reportedly escalated after allegations of infidelity arose. Although family members intervened and temporarily resolved the matter, another confrontation allegedly occurred the following morning.

During the renewed quarrel, the situation reportedly turned physical, leading to damage to personal property. Authorities allege that the confrontation escalated further, resulting in the fatal injury.
Confirming the development, the traditional ruler of Ekeoba Ancient Kingdom, HRH Iheanyi Nwokenna, said he had just been informed of the incident upon returning from a trip.
The incident has left the Umuihi Umuogba community in mourning, with residents expressing concern over domestic disputes and calling for peaceful conflict resolution within families. Police say investigations are ongoing.
