A man has been arrested for attempting to smuggle hard drugs into the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) facility in Agodi, Ibadan, Oyo State, by concealing them in food meant for an inmate.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the arrest was confirmed by the Public Relations Officer of the Oyo State Command of the Nigerian Correctional Service, O.O. Anjorin, who disclosed that the suspect was apprehended during routine security screening of visitors and their belongings at the entrance of the custodial centre.

According to Anjorin, the incident occurred at about 2:20 p.m. on Wednesday, February 25, 2026. The suspect, who claimed he was visiting an inmate, was found to have hidden substances suspected to be Colorado and hemp inside a portion of cooked rice.

Following the discovery, the suspect was immediately handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and necessary legal action.
The handover was carried out by the Officer-in-Charge of the facility, Assistant Controller of Corrections Sunday Adekunmbi.
The Controller of Corrections in Oyo State, Osogun C. Olusegun, commended the officers for their vigilance and professionalism, reiterating the Service’s commitment to maintaining security, safety and integrity across all custodial centres in the state.
