EKO HOT BLOG reports that Governor Nwifuru had earlier announced the suspension of Mbam and the Commissioner for Infrastructure Development for Concession, Ogbonnaya Obasi Abara, citing lapses in the discharge of their responsibilities at the Ministry of Works.
In a statement shared on his social media handle, Mbam reaffirmed his loyalty to the governor, describing him as his leader and mentor. He said he accepted responsibility for the shortcomings recorded under his watch and expressed regret over any perceived disappointment.
The embattled commissioner stated that the recent development would serve as an opportunity to reassess operations within the ministry, address weak areas and strengthen performance.
He emphasised that performance at the Ministry of Works remains a priority for the governor and noted that disciplinary measures, whether public or private, are aimed at improving governance and service delivery.
He said, “Leadership and mentorship come with the ability to take accolades and the courage to take correction and reprimand.
“I take responsibility for the unmet expectations of the Ministry of Works under my watch. On behalf of the Ebonyi State Ministry of Works, I accept responsibility for the observed lapses.
“Your Excellency, I apologize for every perceived disappointment. We will do better, and a second chance will not be taken for granted.”

Mbam’s apology comes amid growing public attention on accountability within the state executive council, as the administration insists on improved standards across key ministries.
