EKO HOT BLOG reports that Garba described Dandago’s death as a “painful moment” for the university community, noting that the late scholar had dedicated years of service to both the institution and the state.
The statement highlighted that Dandago, who specialised in Accounting and Taxation, had recently made a donation to a support fund aimed at assisting families of deceased staff members at Bayero University Kano.
Even in his final days, the professor remained active in public and academic engagements. Just last weekend, he participated as a panel discussant in a Ramadan lecture organised by the International Institute of Islamic Thought.
Professor Dandago served as Kano State Commissioner for Finance from June 2015 to October 2018 under the administration of former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.
Beyond his public service, he had a distinguished academic career at Bayero University Kano, joining the institution in September 1990. Over the years, he rose to become Dean of the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences, contributing significantly to research and scholarship.
Throughout his career, Dandago authored and edited numerous books covering Accounting, Taxation, Finance, and Economics, leaving a lasting impact on both academia and public administration in Nigeria.

His passing marks the loss of a respected scholar and public servant, remembered for his dedication to education, governance, and community development.
