The management of Malam Bako Mosque in Maiduguri, Borno State, has dismissed reports circulating on social media claiming that unknown individuals planted a bomb inside the mosque.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in an official statement released on Tuesday, the mosque described the claim as false and misleading, stressing that no such incident occurred within the mosque premises or in the surrounding area.

The mosque, located in the Layin Hadiza area of Maiduguri, assured worshippers and residents that the environment remains calm and safe.
In the statement titled “Official Statement from the Management of Malam Bako Mosque, Layin Hadiza,” the mosque clarified that the viral message alleging that individuals attempted to plant a bomb inside the mosque was entirely unfounded.
“The management of Malam Bako Mosque wishes to inform the public that the message currently spreading on social media, claiming that some people came to plant a bomb in the mosque, is completely false,” the statement said.
It further noted that no security incident had been recorded either within the mosque or in the nearby neighbourhood.

The mosque’s management also cautioned members of the public against sharing unverified information, warning that such rumours could create unnecessary fear and panic among residents.
“We urge members of the public to disregard the message and refrain from spreading unverified information that may cause unnecessary fear and panic in the community,” the statement added.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the Borno State Police Command, Nahum Daso, also confirmed that the report was false, advising residents to remain vigilant while avoiding the spread of misinformation.
Authorities urged the public to rely only on verified information from official sources to prevent unnecessary alarm in the community.
