Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force in Nasarawa State have arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered firearms during a raid on a criminal hideout in the state.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the operation was carried out by officers of the State Intelligence Department following credible intelligence that led them to a hideout in Gidan Akuya Village in Keana Local Government Area.

Police authorities said the suspects attempted to flee upon sighting the operatives. However, officers pursued them and successfully arrested a 43 year old suspect identified as Jibril Yunusa.
According to the Nasarawa State Police Command, a search of the hideout led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, an empty magazine and a locally fabricated rifle.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Ramhan Nansel, the suspect reportedly confessed during interrogation to participating in several kidnapping operations within the Keana and Awe Local Government Area axis.
Police said the suspect has also provided useful information that will assist ongoing investigations.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Shetima Jauro Mohammed, has ordered an intensified manhunt to track down other members of the gang who escaped during the raid.
He commended the officers involved in the operation for their professionalism and dedication, while assuring residents that the command remains committed to tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state.
Police authorities added that efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects and dismantle the entire criminal network.
