A large gathering of political leaders, traditional rulers, and Muslim faithful converged on Igboye Community in Eredo Local Council Development Area, Epe, for a special Ramadan lecture and Iftar session hosted by former Executive Chairman of the council, Adeniyi Saliu.

Eko Hot Blog reports that the spiritually uplifting event was organized in honour of the late Alhaji Sikiru, father of Hon. Saliu, whose memory continues to inspire acts of faith, unity, and communal service within Leaders, Monarchs Gather in Igboye for Ramadan Lecture, Iftar in Honour of Late Alhaji Sikiru community.
The programme attracted prominent personalities including the Executive Chairman of Eredo Local Council Development Area and members of his cabinet, the Member representing Epe Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Wale Raji, and former lawmaker Wasiu Ayo Odeyemi. Political stakeholders, community leaders, and Muslim faithful also attended the gathering.
Traditional rulers and community representatives from Poka, Odomola, and Odo-Egiri were present, including the Onile-Onile of Igboye, reflecting the strong communal support for the event.
Delivering the Ramadan lecture, Imam Sikiru emphasized the importance of prayer in the lives of believers, particularly among leaders entrusted with public responsibilities. He observed that many political leaders often become overwhelmed with the demands of leadership and neglect their spiritual obligations.
“Many political leaders hardly create time to pray and worship God. Leadership without prayer is like cooking a delicious meal without salt,” he said.
The cleric also reflected on the origin of the gathering, noting that the Ramadan prayer session began when the late Alhaji Sikiru was still alive and used to hold the programme within the comfort of his sitting room.
“This gathering started when Alhaji Sikiru was still alive in his sitting room, and it is a thing of joy to see Hon. Adeniyi Saliu not allowing this noble tradition to die with their father,” he added.
He urged Muslims to continue strengthening their relationship with Allah through prayer, charity, and acts of kindness, especially during the sacred month of Ramadan.
Several dignitaries present at the gathering delivered goodwill messages to the Saliu family, commending Hon. Adeniyi Saliu for sustaining the spiritual initiative in honour of his late father. They described the effort as a commendable act that promotes unity, faith, and community development.
The event also featured the (Iftar), where attendees shared meals together in an atmosphere of brotherhood and gratitude, reflecting the true essence of Ramadan.
The gathering concluded with special prayers for the repose of the soul of the late Alhaji Sikiru, as well as prayers for peace, unity, and continued development across communities in Eredo LCDA and the wider Epe Division.
