EKO HOT BLOG reports that the meeting, held at the historic Gidan Rumfa palace, comes as tensions persist over the unresolved dispute surrounding the Kano emirship stool.
The governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, confirmed the development in a Facebook post on Wednesday.
He disclosed that the delegation included the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ibrahim, and the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Sulaiman Wali Sani.
“Shortly after the Iftar at Emir’s Palace, the Governor’s delegation had a closed-door meeting with His Highness,” Dawakin Tofa wrote.
The development comes as Kano prepares for the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations, particularly the Sallah Durbar, a centuries-old cultural procession that draws widespread attention.
However, uncertainty surrounds the event following conflicting signals from government officials on whether it will hold this year amid the ongoing legal dispute between Sanusi II and Aminu Ado Bayero.
Governor Yusuf had reinstated Sanusi II in 2024, but Bayero has continued to challenge his removal in court, leaving the emirship stool in a state of legal and political uncertainty.

Although the Kano State Government has recently indicated that the crisis may soon be resolved, Tuesday night’s Iftar and the subsequent closed-door meeting appear to signal growing alignment between the state government and Sanusi II.
