The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Lagos East Senatorial District, successfully hosted a transformative three-day leadership retreat in Eredo, bringing together delegates from all fifteen (15) Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas within the district.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the retreat, designed to strengthen leadership capacity and foster unity among youth leaders, featured a blend of training sessions, interactive engagements, and institutional visits.

The opening day began with the arrival and check-in of participants, followed by an official opening ceremony led by the Vice Chairman, Comr. Asoro Abubakri Olatunji (ACArb), alongside the Host Coordinator, Comr. Adekunle Oluwaseyi.
Both leaders welcomed delegates and emphasized the importance of leadership development, unity, and capacity building in advancing youth-driven initiatives across the district.
Day two, which formed the core of the retreat, featured intensive training sessions structured into five key modules.
These included leadership fundamentals and personal responsibility, crisis management and conflict resolution strategies, volunteerism and civic engagement, team building and collaboration, as well as organizational structure and institutional hierarchy.
Participants were actively engaged through practical exercises, group discussions, and scenario-based learning, equipping them with modern leadership tools and strategies to enhance organizational effectiveness within their respective branches.
The sessions were facilitated by distinguished resource persons, including Mayor Deen Sanwoola, Mrs. Adaku N. Ijeomah, and Dr. Akinfenwa Omolaja Akeem, whose wealth of experience added significant value to the programme.
The retreat concluded on day three with a courtesy visit to the palace of the Orijeru of Igboye Kingdom, Oba AbdulRasaq Akanni Musa.
The monarch warmly received the delegates, offering insights into the history of Igboye Kingdom while commending the youth council for its commitment to leadership development and community engagement.
In a show of appreciation, the NYCN Lekki LCDA Branch acknowledged the unwavering support of the Executive Chairman of Lekki Local Council Development Area, Rasaki Bamidele Kasali, for his dedication to youth inclusion and empowerment.
They also appreciated the Supervisor for Youth Empowerment and Civic Engagement, Hon. Balogun Orimisan, and the Head of Department of Agriculture, Mrs. Ajayi, fondly known as Mama Youth, for their continuous support before, during, and after the retreat.
The retreat was described as highly impactful, equipping participants with essential leadership skills, innovative strategies, and renewed motivation to drive positive change across their various local branches and communities.
