Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced a ₦200 million financial support package aimed at strengthening autism advocacy and improving caregiver capacity across Lagos State.

According to Sanwo-Olu, the intervention will be split into two equal parts: ₦100 million will be disbursed to autism-focused organisations through the Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA), while the remaining ₦100 million will support the Kanyeyachukwu Foundation.
He described the initiative as a strategic investment designed to expand access to care and develop a stronger network of trained caregivers for children with special needs.

“This is not just about one child; it is about creating opportunities for many others who may not have the same platform,” the governor said, noting that improving caregiver capacity would help address the challenges faced by families of children on the autism spectrum.
Sanwo-Olu also praised Kanyeyachukwu’s 15-day cycling campaign, describing it as a symbol of resilience and a powerful effort in reshaping public perception of autism. He added that such advocacy helps shift the narrative from limitation to potential.
The event, held to mark World Autism Awareness Day, brought together stakeholders from government, advocacy groups, and development partners, reflecting growing momentum for autism awareness and inclusion in Lagos.
