Faction of the Peoples Democratic Party aligned with Nyesom Wike has rejected reports concerning an appeal filed by Samuel Anyanwu, describing the claims as inaccurate and taken out of context.
In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed, Eko Hot Blog gathered that under the leadership of Abdurahman Mohammed, the group clarified that Anyanwu was never formally suspended by the party.

According to the statement, although Anyanwu filed an appeal, it was not related to any suspension. The faction explained that the original case at the Federal Capital Territory High Court was aimed at challenging the legitimacy and proceedings of a disciplinary panel led by Tom Ikimi.

It further stated that while the panel had suggested a suspension, the recommendation was never approved by the party’s National Working Committee or National Executive Committee, and therefore carried no legal authority.
The faction emphasised that since the recommendation was neither adopted nor ratified, it had no effect, meaning no valid suspension ever existed.
It also disclosed that the disciplinary panel was later set aside after concerns were raised that it was not properly constituted in line with the party’s constitution.
Addressing the court ruling delivered in January 2026 by the FCT High Court, the group clarified that the judgment did not confirm any suspension. Instead, the case was dismissed on jurisdictional grounds, as internal party disciplinary issues fall outside the court’s scope.
The faction added that the appeal filed by Anyanwu on April 10, 2026, is now set to be withdrawn, noting that it is no longer necessary.

Reaffirming its position, the group maintained that the party’s current leadership structure remains valid, citing a previous ruling by a Federal High Court in Ibadan which upheld the National Caretaker Committee and directed the Independent National Electoral Commission to recognise it.
It also pointed to the party’s national convention held in Abuja at the end of March 2026, stating that the event was conducted lawfully and monitored by INEC.
The faction urged party members and the public to disregard contrary reports, describing them as misleading and intended to create confusion.
