EKO HOT BLOG reports that the event followed a solidarity walk by thousands of supporters who moved from the Emir’s Palace through Babban Dodo, Lemu, Kofar Doka, and Tudun Wada before arriving at the venue of the declaration.
The Speaker, who was first elected into the House of Representatives in 2011, used the occasion to highlight what he described as the achievements and development projects attracted to the constituency during his years in office.
Addressing the crowd, Abbas said his decision to seek another mandate was based on performance and measurable results rather than political promises.
According to him, several projects and intervention programmes carried out under his representation had improved livelihoods, empowered residents, and brought development closer to the people.
“These are not theories. These are visible projects. These are measurable results,” Abbas said.
“Today, I formally declare my intention to seek another mandate to represent the good people of Zaria Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
“This declaration is not based on promises alone. It is based on work. It is based on results. It is based on a record that our people can see and verify.”
The Speaker stated that when he first assumed office, he promised that representation would remain connected to the people and focused on delivering visible outcomes.
He added that leadership must improve the lives of citizens and produce practical results for communities.
Abbas also described himself as one of the most active lawmakers in the National Assembly, revealing that he had sponsored 74 bills since becoming a legislator.
According to him, 21 of the bills have already been signed into law.

The Speaker explained that the bills were designed to address governance challenges and improve public institutions rather than attract publicity.
