A temporary curfew has been declared across Odomola Kingdom in Eredo Local Council Development Area following the passage of the traditional ruler, Oba Suliamon Adeshina Adebowale.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the directive was officially announced by palace chiefs as part of the customary rites and traditional mourning processes observed after the death of a reigning monarch within the kingdom.
According to the palace, the curfew commenced from 6:00 p.m. and will remain effective until Wednesday morning, during which residents are expected to remain indoors while all forms of movement and activities within the community are restricted.
The palace authorities explained that the suspension affects vehicular movement, commercial activities, social gatherings, and other public engagements within the town as traditional rites continue for the late king.
Community members and visitors were strongly advised to fully comply with the directive in order to preserve peace, maintain order, and allow the kingdom to carry out its long-established cultural and traditional obligations without interruption.
Palace chiefs noted that the observance of such rites remains an important aspect of the kingdom’s heritage and spiritual tradition, especially during the transition period following the demise of a monarch.
Since news of the monarch’s passing became public, residents, indigenes, and sympathizers across Epe Division have continued to pay tributes to the late royal father, describing him as a peaceful, respected, and development-driven monarch whose reign contributed immensely to the growth and unity of Odomola Kingdom.
Many residents recalled the late king’s role in promoting peaceful coexistence, cultural preservation, youth development, and community progress during his reign.
Some community leaders also described the monarch as a traditional ruler who remained committed to protecting the customs, values, and identity of the kingdom while supporting developmental initiatives within the community.
Security and local monitoring teams are also expected to ensure compliance with the temporary restrictions throughout the mourning period.
Palace authorities further assured residents that additional announcements concerning burial arrangements, traditional activities, and subsequent public engagements will be communicated in due course.
The atmosphere across Odomola remained calm and solemn as residents observed the mourning rites in honour of the late monarch.
