EKO HOT BLOG reports that he Director of Sharia at the Hisbah Board, Sirajo Kamba, confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Tuesday in Birnin Kebbi.
According to Kamba, the arrest followed a complaint from residents who allegedly noticed the man entering the woman’s residence late at night under suspicious circumstances.
He explained that the board received the report around 12:15 a.m. on Monday, May 18, after concerned residents alerted authorities over what they believed was an improper relationship between the pair.
Kamba stated that the residents suspected conduct contrary to Islamic teachings and subsequently informed the Hisbah Board for investigation.
“The residents suspected an illicit affair contrary to Islamic teachings, hence their decision to formally notify the authority.
“Upon receiving the report, the Kebbi Hisbah Board swiftly deployed officers to investigate.
“When officers arrived, they requested permission to search the house, but the woman initially denied that anyone was inside,” he said.
The Hisbah official added that the woman later permitted officers to conduct a search of the premises.
During the operation, officers reportedly found the man concealed inside a “Ghana Must-Go” bag within the house.
Kamba said preliminary investigations allegedly revealed that the suspects were involved in a romantic relationship.
He disclosed that both individuals were interrogated after the discovery and allegedly admitted to the accusations during questioning.
According to him, the suspects are expected to be arraigned before a court to face legal proceedings under Islamic law.
The board, however, did not release the identities of the suspects or specify the date for their court appearance.
The incident has since generated reactions within the community, with several residents describing the discovery as shocking.

The development comes days after the Kano State Hisbah Board arrested two women and a 35-year-old fish seller over an alleged attempt to engage in immoral acts in the state.
