Borno Sate Governor, Babagana Zulum has assured residents of Mussa community in Askira-Uba Local Government Area of Borno State that efforts are underway to secure the release of 48 abducted schoolchildren taken by suspected terrorists.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the governor gave the assurance on Tuesday during a condolence visit to Uba town, where he met with parents and community members affected by the abduction.

Addressing residents, Zulum expressed sympathy to the Emir of Uba, families of the victims and the people of the Uba Emirate over the incident.

He said the Federal Government, security agencies and the Borno State Government were working together to ensure the safe return of the children.
Zulum also praised the military and other security operatives for their swift response to the attack and efforts to prevent further security breaches in the area.
According to him, senior security officials, including military commanders and police authorities, have already been deployed to strengthen operations and support rescue efforts.
The governor further pledged to enhance security presence across Askira-Uba and neighbouring communities to prevent future attacks.
He appealed to those holding the children captive to release them, stressing that the victims were minors who needed parental care and protection.

Zulum also urged residents of the Uba Emirate and the wider Borno community to continue praying for peace and the safe return of the abducted children during the early days of the Islamic month of Dhul Hijjah.
Speaking during the visit, the Ali Ibn Isma’ila Mamza II said the abduction occurred on May 15 in Mussa community, with the victims comprising 37 primary school pupils, six secondary school students and five other residents.
The monarch commended the governor for his commitment to tackling insecurity and supporting the emirate.
A representative of the Mussa community, Dr. Chinapi Amanja, also appreciated the governor’s visit and acknowledged the deployment of additional security personnel to the area.
