According to the statement, the coordinated industrial action represents a firm resolve by Nigerian teachers to safeguard their own lives rather than passively waiting to be targeted by armed groups.
The labor center emphasized that the ongoing strike must serve as a sharp, unavoidable wake-up call to federal, state, and local governments to finally confront the booming kidnapping enterprise disrupting national stability.
NLC leadership commended the NUT Executive Council, led by National President Titus Audu Amba, for their proactive steps to highlight the extreme vulnerabilities currently facing the education sector.
Beyond school environments, the Congress voiced deep concern over how various other classifications of public workers, including local government employees, doctors, nurses, and rural health practitioners, have increasingly become prime targets for highly organized bandit networks.
Reflecting on the recent mass kidnapping of schoolchildren and educators within the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, the NLC stated it is profoundly heartbroken by circulating images detailing the severe psychological and physical torture being inflicted upon young students in dense forest hideouts.

The union warned that citizens cannot simply fold their hands while a continuous cycle of mass abductions plays out across the country, citing recurring security breakdowns stretching from Zamfara and Plateau to Kogi, Maiduguri, and Port Harcourt.
While acknowledging the complex operational environments confronting national security forces, the NLC implored the political class to move completely past the routine performance of generic condolence messages and repetitive assurances of having things under control.
Labor leaders insisted that nothing short of measurable, concrete tactical actions will suffice to secure lives and properties moving forward, concluding their briefing with an uncompromising demand to free every single captive currently held in clandestine camps across the federation.
