Stakeholders in Eredo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) have proposed a restriction on motor vehicle movement between 10:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. as part of new measures to curb rising insecurity in the area.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the proposal emerged during an emergency security stakeholders’ meeting held at the palace of the Alara of Ilara Kingdom, Oba Olufolarin Olukayode Ogunsanwo, where traditional rulers, security agencies, community leaders, youth groups, transport operators and other stakeholders gathered to review growing security threats.

Participants explained that limiting movement during night hours would help reduce criminal mobility and improve surveillance across vulnerable routes, particularly forested areas often linked to recent security incidents.
They added that restricted night movement would also support security agencies in tracking suspicious activities and strengthening coordination with local vigilance groups and community intelligence networks.

Stakeholders, however, noted that the measure would require clear guidelines to prevent disruption of essential services such as medical emergencies and other critical movements during restricted hours.
The recommendation is part of wider security proposals aimed at improving intelligence sharing, tightening monitoring of remote routes, and enhancing collaboration between residents and security operatives.
Community leaders at the meeting described the move as necessary in response to recent incidents that have raised safety concerns across several communities in the LCDA.

Security officials are expected to further assess the proposal before any final decision is taken in collaboration with relevant authorities.
The summit ended with a renewed commitment to adopt practical strategies aimed at restoring peace and improving safety across Eredo communities.
