A commercial bus driver has lost his life in a fatal multi-vehicle accident at Cele inward Oshodi, Lagos, prompting an emergency response by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).
The crash, which occurred on Monday along the busy Cele-Oshodi corridor, involved a commercial mini-bus popularly known as a “Korope” and a Toyota Tundra pickup truck with registration number EPE 554 YC.
Preliminary findings by security personnel at the scene indicated that the commercial bus driver sustained severe injuries from the impact of the collision and died instantly.
LASTMA officials on routine traffic monitoring duty quickly responded to the incident by securing the crash scene, managing traffic flow, and coordinating emergency operations to prevent further disruption along the route.
Working alongside officers of the Nigeria Police Force from the Cele-Ijesha Division, LASTMA personnel recovered the body of the deceased and facilitated its release to family members residing in the area.

The agency also evacuated the damaged vehicles from the roadway, helping to restore normal traffic movement. The vehicles involved have since been handed over to the police for further investigation to determine the cause of the crash and establish liability.
In a separate incident, a commercial danfo bus carrying passengers plunged into a canal near the Costain–National Theatre axis of Lagos after veering off the road.
Emergency responders, including residents, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), and LASTMA officials, swiftly intervened and rescued all occupants of the vehicle.
Authorities confirmed that no lives were lost in the incident, while some passengers sustained minor injuries and received immediate attention.
Reacting to the fatal crash at Cele, LASTMA General Manager, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, expressed condolences to the family of the deceased driver and urged motorists, particularly commercial drivers, to obey traffic regulations and drive responsibly.
He reiterated the agency’s commitment to protecting lives on Lagos roads through prompt emergency response, effective traffic management, and collaboration with other emergency agencies.
