The event will bring together members and well-wishers for a banquet dinner, fundraising for the chapter’s community projects, and the induction of a Matron and Patron.

The evening will also feature the swearing-in of a new Executive Committee for the 2026-2028 tenure. Guests have been asked to turn out in the chapter’s chosen colours for the night, Blue Ankara paired with Blue Jeans.
Eko Club International, under whose umbrella the San Antonio chapter operates, is a diaspora-based organisation of Lagos indigenes founded in the United States in 2000. It grew out of an initiative by Lagosians in Houston and Canada, and has since expanded into dozens of chapters across the U.S., Canada, the U.K. and Europe.
The organisation describes its mission as fostering unity among Lagosians abroad while giving back to Lagos State and to underserved communities in the diaspora, through medical missions, scholarships, school renovations, and food and clothing drives.

Speaking ahead of the anniversary, the San Antonio chapter’s President, Hon. Esther Seymour-Olade, said the milestone reflects the steady growth of the San Antonio chapter since its founding.
“Six years in, we have built a family here in San Antonio that is committed not just to fellowship, but to genuine impact, both in our host community and back home in Lagos,” she said.
“This anniversary is our way of thanking our members and partners, while formally welcoming the leaders who will steer us over the next two years.”
Similarly, the chapter’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Hon. Prince Kolapo Agunloye, described the anniversary as an opportunity to showcase the group’s ongoing projects to a wider audience.
“We have quietly executed initiatives that support the underprivileged on both sides of the Atlantic, and this event is a chance to bring our community together to celebrate that work and rally support for what comes next,” he said.

Also reacting to the upcoming anniversary, Otunba T.J. Abass, a former President of Eko Club International and one of the organisation’s founding figures, said the San Antonio chapter’s growth mirrors the broader trajectory of the parent body since its formation.
“What began as an effort to unite a handful of Lagosians abroad has become a movement with real footprints in Lagos and across our host communities. Chapters like San Antonio are proof that the vision has taken firm root,” he said.
Dr. Philip Soneye, who will be inducted as a Patron, extended an invitation to friends, family and well-wishers to join him at the celebration.
“I am humbly seeking your support as I step into this new role, committed to serving our community and promoting the values of unity, culture, and service,” he said, urging loved ones to come out and share in the occasion.

Members and guests wishing to attend are to RSVP through the chapter’s President, Hon. Esther Seymour-Olade; the General Secretary, Hon. Omolola Hollist; or the PRO/Social Secretary, Hon. Prince Kolapo Agunloye.
