Family members, friends, associates, community leaders, and well-wishers on Friday gathered at Popo Oba Square, Epe, Lagos State, for the 40-Day Fidau Prayer of the late Alhaji Moshood Olayinka Ibishomi, the revered Olu-Akin of Epe Kingdom.

Eko Hot Blog reports that the solemn gathering provided an opportunity for loved ones to reflect on the life, values, and lasting legacy of the respected community leader, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose contributions to humanity and community development continue to inspire many.
Islamic clerics led special prayers for the repose of his soul, asking Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings, accept his good deeds, illuminate and widen his grave, and grant him eternal rest in Al-Jannatul Firdaus.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Mr. Taiwo Ibishomi described his late father as a man of integrity, wisdom, and compassion who dedicated his life to raising his children with strong moral values and a deep sense of responsibility.
According to him, the late Alhaji Ibishomi taught his children the importance of honesty, hard work, humility, and selfless service to humanity.
“Our father taught us to always be truthful and to treat people with dignity and respect. He constantly reminded us that helping others should never be for personal gain. He believed that kindness and service to humanity are among the greatest virtues a person can possess,” he said.
Also speaking, Alhaja Alade-Raji paid tribute to her father, describing him as a loving and caring parent who instilled in his children the values of unity, empathy, generosity, and unwavering faith in God.
She noted that he always encouraged them to remain united as a family, support one another, and extend helping hands to those in need regardless of social status or background.
“Our father raised us with love and taught us to have human feelings. He wanted us to be compassionate, accommodating, and willing to support people whenever we had the opportunity. He believed that true wealth lies in the lives we touch and not merely in material possessions,” she said.
Mr. Idowu Abdulbaki Ibishomi also remembered his father as a mentor and role model whose teachings continue to guide the family.
He described the late community icon as a disciplined man who valued honesty, fairness, accountability, and justice in all his dealings.
“He always told us that a good name is better than riches. He taught us never to compromise our integrity, never to take bribes before helping people, and always to stand for what is right, even when it is difficult,” he stated.
Other family members who spoke at the prayer session described the late Alhaji Ibishomi as a peace-loving elder, a father figure to many, and a man whose doors were always open to those seeking guidance, support, or assistance.
They noted that his generosity extended beyond his immediate family, as he consistently supported community causes, mentored younger generations, promoted peaceful coexistence, and encouraged education, honesty, and hard work among the youth.
Many attendees also shared testimonies of his kindness, humility, and commitment to the development of Epe Kingdom, describing him as a respected elder whose influence transcended family boundaries.
The family expressed gratitude to all individuals, organizations, traditional institutions, and community groups who stood by them during the burial rites and the period of mourning.
They pledged to uphold the values and principles their father lived for, while praying that his legacy of service, generosity, integrity, and love for humanity would continue to inspire future generations.
The prayer session concluded with renewed prayers for the deceased and for peace, unity, and continued progress in Epe Kingdom.
Late Alhaji Moshood Olayinka Ibishomi, the Olu-Akin of Epe Kingdom, is remembered as a distinguished community leader whose life was defined by service, humility, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to the welfare of others.
