- Following a preliminary interrogation by top road safety officials, the criminal suspects alongside their operational vehicle have been transferred to the Nigeria Police Force, Eleyele Division, for deeper investigation and prosecution.

The operational breakthrough highlights the increasing tactical role of road safety enforcement teams in checking urban criminality and expanding internal security intelligence beyond basic traffic management across the southwestern region.
According to an official press release signed by the Corps Public Education Officer, Assistant Corps Marshal Osondu Ohaeri, a stationed FRSC patrol team grew highly suspicious after spotting a commercial motorcycle rider aggressively pursuing a Nissan Micra sedan bearing registration number AJW 903XE.
The situational tension spiked rapidly when a female passenger inside the speeding saloon car frantically raised an alarm, shouting to onlookers that her high-value mobile phone had just been forcefully stolen by fellow occupants within the vehicle.
Reacting with tactical precision, the road marshals blocked the escape path, forced the vehicle to a halt, and took immediate control of the scene.
During the initial roadside interrogation, the driver of the intercepted Nissan Micra, identified as Idowu Mukaila, attempted to deflect culpability by claiming he possessed the unique local network to instantly facilitate the recovery of the missing phone.

Corroborating the suspicious nature of the setup, another unidentified individual arrived at the scene moments later and mysteriously produced the exact stolen mobile device.
This coordinated action strongly confirmed the operational parameters of an organized transport robbery ring, prompting the patrol team to arrest the suspects on the spot.
The state command’s intelligence net widened further when officials of the Park Management System and the Oyo State Drivers’ Union arrived at the scene.
Transport union leaders informed the road safety officers that both the driver, Idowu Mukaila, and his specific operational vehicle had been placed under secret surveillance for weeks following repetitive, verified complaints from commuters regarding coordinated phone thefts and “one chance” operations within the Ibadan metropolis.
Following a detailed interrogation session led directly by the Oyo State Sector Commander and the Deputy Corps Commander in charge of Operations, the case files, recovered evidence, and suspects were officially handed over to the Divisional Police Headquarters in Eleyele for comprehensive forensic analysis.
The FRSC leadership strongly commended the alertness of its field officers, stating that the successful intercept underscores the vital importance of inter-agency collaboration.
The corps further urged members of the public to remain highly vigilant when boarding commercial vehicles and to utilize open channels to report suspicious movements to security agencies.
