The Oyo State Executive Council has taken a decisive step toward completing the Ibadan Circular Road by approving a massive ₦5.8 billion compensation package for affected property owners.
Eko Hot Blog reports that commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dotun Oyelade, confirmed on Wednesday that this payment aims to resolve grievances and accelerate the state’s urban transformation vision.

This latest approval follows a first-phase disbursement of over ₦800 million made in the previous 18 months.
By addressing the claims of these 900 landowners, the government aims to foster investor confidence and push forward with the planning and development of the strategic corridor.
The council also reaffirmed its commitment to the Sustainable Action for Economic Recovery (SAfER) initiative.
To this end, ₦710,382,000 was approved to continue transportation subsidies from March to August 2026. This follows a successful run last year where over four million commuters benefited from significant fare reductions.

A major project involving the reconstruction of the Okaka Junction–Otu–Igbeti–Kishi road, including bridges over the Otu and Ofiki rivers, received an expansion approval of ₦3.9 billion.
This brings the total commitment for the regional link to over ₦30 billion.
Additionally, the state approved ₦126.9 million to complete the Christian Wing multipurpose hall, a project that was first started 25 years ago under the late Governor Lam Adesina.
