The case first came to the attention of the security agency on June 16 when the father himself reported his daughter missing for three weeks. Operatives from the Command’s Gender Unit launched an investigation and successfully traced the minor.
During questioning, the 14-year-old girl revealed she deliberately ran away from home due to months of alleged s3xual abuse, intimidation, and beatings by her father. According to the Commandant, the victim had lived with her grandmother since childhood before moving into her father’s custody in December 2025 under the guise of parental care.
The girl alleged that shortly after moving in, her father began subjecting her to repeated s3xual assaults. She reportedly became pregnant in May, after which the suspect allegedly took her to a private facility for an abortion. She was also allegedly threatened not to disclose the abuse and advised to start family planning.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect admitted to having unlawful carnal knowledge of the minor.
Commandant Nda-Muhammed strongly condemned the act, describing it as “a heinous betrayal of parental responsibility and a grave violation of the rights, dignity, and wellbeing of a child.”
He reaffirmed the NSCDC’s commitment to protecting vulnerable members of society and called on the public to report suspected cases of abuse promptly to security agencies.
The suspect remains in custody as investigation continues.
