A Magistrate Court sitting in Bolade, Oshodi, has convicted and sentenced 13 persons to three months’ imprisonment each for indiscriminate dumping of refuse in Lagos State.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the convictions were disclosed on Tuesday by the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, through his official X handle.

According to the commissioner, the defendants were arraigned for violating environmental sanitation laws through illegal waste disposal activities in different parts of the state.
The 13 defendants pleaded guilty to the charges preferred against them.
Following their guilty pleas, the court convicted and sentenced each of them to three months’ imprisonment.
Those convicted are Jamiu Abdulkareem, Nwosu Martin, Abduljamiu Wasiu, Habeeb Muhammed, Kolawole Elijah, Anum Musa, Adeniyi Jamiu, Taiwo Olaniyi, Ali Muhammed, Paul Yaya, Damilare Adebowale, Ojo Fatai and Abah Musa.

The Lagos State Government said the convictions underscore its commitment to enforcing environmental laws and maintaining a cleaner, safer and healthier environment for residents.
The government added that the prosecution forms part of its zero-tolerance campaign against indiscriminate waste disposal and other environmental violations across the state.
