The Executive Chairman of Eredo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Ismail Monsuru Akinloye, has convened a strategic stakeholders’ meeting aimed at strengthening environmental sanitation and enhancing security across communities within the council area.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the meeting, which was attended by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Lateef Adesanya, members of the executive cabinet, Iyalojas, Baales, representatives of the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), Community Development Committee (CDC) executives, and security agencies, focused on addressing critical environmental and security concerns affecting the LCDA.
Speaking during the engagement, Hon. Akinloye emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in maintaining a cleaner, safer, and healthier environment for residents.
The chairman reiterated the council’s prohibition of indiscriminate refuse dumping on road medians, expressways, and other unauthorized locations, warning that violators would be sanctioned in line with existing environmental regulations.
He noted that improper waste disposal contributes to environmental degradation, public health risks, and drainage blockages, stressing the need for residents and stakeholders to support ongoing sanitation efforts.
Hon. Akinloye called on market leaders, traditional rulers, community development associations, security agencies, and residents to work together in ensuring compliance with environmental laws and promoting responsible waste disposal practices.
As part of efforts to improve waste management operations, the chairman disclosed that the council is making arrangements to acquire an additional waste compactor to complement the existing one and boost refuse evacuation across the LCDA.
According to him, the proposed acquisition will improve operational efficiency and strengthen the council’s capacity to maintain a cleaner environment.
The meeting also addressed security-related matters, with participants discussing strategies to enhance vigilance, community policing, and information sharing among residents and security agencies.
Hon. Akinloye stressed that environmental sanitation and security are interconnected and require the active participation of all stakeholders to achieve lasting results.
He urged residents to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities, and support security agencies in safeguarding lives and property across the council area.
Stakeholders at the meeting expressed their commitment to supporting the council’s initiatives and pledged to mobilize residents within their respective communities to comply with environmental and security directives.
The meeting concluded with a renewed resolve by all participants to work collaboratively towards building a cleaner, safer, and more prosperous Eredo LCDA.
