The Epe Local Government, under the leadership of Hon. Princess Surah Olayemi Animashaun, FHTI, has partnered with Rotary International and its affiliated Rotary Clubs to provide free healthcare services and menstrual care support to residents through the Rotary Health Mission and Menstrual Care Project III.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the initiative is aimed at expanding access to quality healthcare and improving the well-being of residents across Epe and neighbouring communities through a comprehensive medical outreach programme.
According to the council, the humanitarian intervention will provide beneficiaries with free medical consultations, laboratory investigations, medications, surgical procedures, ophthalmology services, and the distribution of sanitary pads to women and girls.
Speaking on the programme, Hon. Princess Surah Animashaun described the initiative as a reflection of her administration’s commitment to promoting accessible and inclusive healthcare for all residents, particularly vulnerable groups within the community.
She noted that strategic partnerships with reputable organizations such as Rotary International remain vital in addressing healthcare needs and improving the quality of life of the people.
The medical outreach will commence with screening and medical investigations scheduled to hold from July 7 to July 9, 2026, at the Epe Primary Health Centre, Agbala Odo Street, Ita Opo, Epe.
The second phase of the programme, which will focus on surgical interventions and intensive medical services, is slated for July 11 and July 12, 2026, at the Papa Primary Health Centre, Rahmon Mistura Street, Epe.
Medical experts participating in the mission will carry out various surgical procedures, including the treatment of inguinal hernias, hydrocele, lipoma, ganglion, ingrown toenails, breast lumps, keloids, undescended testes, skin tags, and other superficial growths.
Additional procedures will include femoral hernia repair, umbilical hernia repair, and epigastric hernia repair for eligible patients.
The programme is expected to benefit hundreds of residents by providing free access to healthcare services that may otherwise be difficult or costly to obtain.
Residents have been encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity by attending the screening exercise and sharing information about the programme with family members, friends, and neighbours who may require medical attention.
The initiative further underscores the commitment of Epe Local Government and Rotary International to community service, disease prevention, health promotion, and the overall welfare of residents.
As preparations continue, stakeholders have expressed optimism that the outreach will significantly improve healthcare access and positively impact lives across Epe Division.
