The extension applies to the submission of nomination forms and personal particulars of candidates contesting the presidency, Senate and House of Representatives seats.
INEC explained that the decision followed requests from political parties that experienced challenges completing the upload of candidates’ information within the original timeframe.

In a statement released on Sunday, the National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Haruna, said the appeal was submitted through the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC).
Haruna noted that IPAC sought more time on behalf of member parties that had not concluded the electronic submission of candidates’ details on the commission’s nomination portal.
According to him, the extension is intended to ensure that all eligible political parties have sufficient opportunity to meet the legal requirements for candidate nomination without being unfairly disadvantaged.

INEC urged all parties to use the additional period to complete the process and upload every required document before the revised deadline expires.
The commission stressed that no further delays should be expected and encouraged political parties to comply fully with the electoral timetable.
