- An ADC faction gave Atiku Abubakar a seven-day ultimatum to stop claiming the party’s 2027 ticket
- The group demanded a public apology and threatened legal action
- It also urged INEC to recognise its National Working Committee
A faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) led by Nafiu Bala Gombe has asked former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to stop presenting himself as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Eko Hot Blog gathered that Gombe said Atiku had not been nominated by the ADC for the 2027 presidential race and urged him to publicly withdraw any claim suggesting otherwise.

The faction also demanded that the former vice president apologise to ADC members and stakeholders for what it described as unauthorised statements made in the name of the party.
Gombe warned that if Atiku fails to comply within seven days, the group will pursue legal action against him.
He further called on Atiku to stop using the ADC’s name, logo and emblem in any communication that, according to the faction, misrepresents the party’s position.

In addition to the demand directed at Atiku, the Gombe-led faction appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to update the party’s records on its portal.
The group asked the electoral commission to remove the National Working Committee members associated with the Senator David Mark-led leadership and replace them with those it considers the legitimate officials of the party.
Gombe said the request was based on a recent court judgment which, according to his faction, affected the recognition of the current leadership structure and decisions taken by that committee.
