The Jigawa State Police Command has launched an investigation into the sudden death of a 60-year-old man at a hotel in Dutse, the state capital.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the command’s spokesperson, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, disclosed this in a statement shared on the police command’s official Facebook page.

According to the statement, the deceased checked into the hotel with a 20-year-old woman before the incident occurred.
Police said the man requested a meal but suddenly developed a medical emergency and began gasping for air.
“Upon receiving the distress report, police officers attached to the Yalwawa Division responded swiftly to the scene and immediately evacuated him to the General Hospital, Dutse, where he was examined by medical personnel and unfortunately certified dead,” the statement read.
Detectives who examined the hotel room reportedly recovered food items, drinks, a suspected sexual enhancement substance and other personal belongings, which have been taken into custody for further investigation.
The police said the deceased’s body was released to his family for burial at their request.
The 20-year-old woman who accompanied the deceased is assisting investigators by providing information on the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The command urged members of the public to avoid speculation and the spread of unverified information, assuring that the investigation would be conducted thoroughly, professionally and impartially.
