Former Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, has said opposition parties have yet to present Nigerians with a convincing alternative ahead of the 2027 general elections, arguing that their focus has largely been on replacing President Bola Tinubu without outlining better governance plans.
Speaking during an interview on TVC on Wednesday, Eko Hot Blog gathered that the former Minister of Works said the next general election should be driven by competing ideas and policy proposals rather than personalities.

Fashola maintained that the opposition has not introduced fresh initiatives capable of persuading voters that it can deliver improved leadership.
According to him, calls for a change in government must be backed by practical solutions to the country’s challenges.
“There is nothing exciting from the other side other than those who want a change of government just wanting the president to go, but to what? What are you giving us instead?” he asked.
He noted that political parties should clearly explain their positions on critical national issues, including taxation, security, infrastructure development and economic growth, so Nigerians can make informed choices at the polls.
Fashola added that presenting well-defined policies would allow voters to compare competing visions for the country before deciding who deserves their mandate in 2027.
