Eko Hot Blog reports that the management team of the Federal University of Science and Technology, Epe (FUSTE), led by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kazeem Adeola Oshikoya, has paid a courtesy visit to the Member representing Epe Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rep. Wale Raji, as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration between the institution and its host community.
The delegation comprised the Registrar, Mr. Kabiru Olawale Okugbesan; the Bursar, Mr. Shakiru Babatunde Kadiri; and the University Librarian, Prof. Racheal Opeyemi Odunlade.
The visit provided an avenue for the university management and the federal lawmaker to discuss areas of mutual interest, including strategic partnerships, infrastructural development, legislative support and initiatives capable of accelerating the growth of the institution and enhancing its impact on the Epe Federal Constituency.
The engagement also underscored the importance of building a strong relationship between FUSTE and its host community, particularly as the university begins to establish its identity as an institution focused on science, technology, innovation and human capital development.
Speaking during the visit, Rep. Wale Raji welcomed the management team and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives that would strengthen the university’s capacity to provide quality education and contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic development of Epe and its neighbouring communities.
“FUSTE represents a significant opportunity for Epe Federal Constituency. Beyond education, the university has the potential to become a major centre for innovation, research, skills development and economic growth. I remain committed to supporting initiatives that will enable the institution to fulfil this mandate,” Raji said.
The lawmaker described the establishment of the university as a landmark development for Epe, noting that a strong science and technology institution would provide opportunities for young people while contributing to the development of a skilled workforce for the future.
Raji also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his vision and commitment towards transforming the educational landscape of Epe through the Renewed Hope Agenda.
He expressed appreciation to the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, as well as the leadership and members of both chambers of the National Assembly for the collaboration and legislative processes that culminated in the establishment of the university.
“The establishment of FUSTE is a demonstration of what can be achieved when the Executive and Legislative arms of government work together towards a common objective. I appreciate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Honourable Minister of Education and the leadership of both the Senate and the House of Representatives for their roles in bringing this important institution to Epe,” he added.
The lawmaker further stressed the need for sustained collaboration among the university management, government, host communities and other stakeholders to ensure that FUSTE develops the infrastructure, academic programmes and institutional capacity required to compete favourably with leading universities.
He noted that the university’s success would have a direct impact on the educational and economic prospects of young people within Epe Federal Constituency and beyond.
