Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has urged Nigerians to embrace compassion, unity and patriotism, saying kindness and mutual support are vital to building a stronger and more prosperous nation.
Eko Hot Blog reports that she made the appeal on Tuesday while receiving the Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria, Michael Shaul Freeman, at the State House in Abuja, where she encouraged citizens to look beyond ethnic, religious and social differences and work together for national progress.

The First Lady described compassion as a core value that should shape relationships among Nigerians, stressing that those who are privileged should extend support to those in need.
Expressing confidence in the country’s future, she said Nigeria remains a land of immense opportunities and urged young people to recognise its potential.
“I love Nigeria. It is a great country, and there is no investment that you put in Nigeria that goes to waste,” she said.
According to her, Nigeria’s diversity is one of its greatest strengths, adding that the confidence shown by foreign partners in the country should inspire citizens to believe more in their nation.
She noted that international support and investment reflected the country’s vast potential and called on Nigerians to promote unity through acts of generosity and compassion.
The First Lady’s remarks come amid renewed calls for greater national cohesion as the country continues to address economic and security challenges.
Earlier, Ambassador Freeman praised the Renewed Hope Initiative, describing it as a programme that has improved the lives of vulnerable Nigerians through interventions in agriculture, healthcare, education, technology, women’s empowerment and youth development.
The envoy, who is completing his diplomatic assignment in Nigeria after almost three years, expressed appreciation for the warm reception he received during his stay and reaffirmed Israel’s commitment to strengthening ties with Nigeria.
He announced that Israel would donate three modern ambulances to support Nigeria’s healthcare system while continuing medical partnerships involving the training of Nigerian doctors and the deployment of Israeli medical professionals.
Freeman also disclosed that the Israeli Embassy would provide additional wheelchairs to orphanages and continue humanitarian assistance to vulnerable communities.
He added that cooperation between both countries would continue in strategic sectors such as agriculture, healthcare and technology.
Describing his time in Nigeria as memorable, the ambassador said Israel remained committed to deepening its partnership with the country.
The meeting was attended by Israel’s Deputy Chief of Mission, Rachel Mishel Stavissky, and the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission, Bishop Stephen Adegbite.
