Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has inaugurated the 10.4-kilometre Edunabon–Tonkere Road in Ife North Local Government Area, describing the project as a major step toward improving infrastructure and economic activities in the area.
According to a statement issued on Saturday by the governor’s spokesperson, Eko Hot Blog gathered that Olawale Rasheed, the newly completed road brings an end to more than 40 years of neglect and restores a key transport link serving several communities in Ife North.

Following the inauguration, Adeleke met with traditional rulers from the local government during a town hall session.
Speaking on behalf of the monarchs, the Alakinlalu of Akinlalu praised the governor for fulfilling his promise to rehabilitate the road, noting that many residents had doubted the project would be completed.
At a campaign rally in Ipetumodu, Adeleke urged residents to remain peaceful and fearless ahead of the August 15 governorship election, assuring them that the outcome would be determined by the will of the electorate.
He encouraged voters not to be intimidated, expressing confidence that the people of Osun would freely decide who governs the state.
The governor also appealed to security agencies and all stakeholders to protect Nigeria’s democratic process by ensuring a peaceful and credible election.
While condemning violence and voter intimidation, Adeleke said his administration remained committed to maintaining peace despite alleged provocations.
He expressed confidence that his party would emerge victorious in the governorship poll.
Also speaking during the visit, Deputy Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Akinyode Oyewusi, said the Adeleke administration had completed 18.2 kilometres of roads in Ife North within two years.
He described the Edunabon–Tonkere Road as one of the administration’s landmark projects, saying it has reopened an important transport corridor, improved movement within the area and boosted local economic activities.
Oyewusi also highlighted the completion of the 3.3-kilometre Akinlalu Junction–Akinlalu Town Road and the 1.5-kilometre Yakooyo–Magistrate Court Road, including the connecting route to Itamerin, as projects that have improved accessibility and reduced travel time for residents.
He added that construction work is ongoing on the 3.3-kilometre Market Square–Tollgate Road in Ipetumodu, assuring residents that more infrastructure projects would be delivered across the local government.
The Secretary to the Osun State Government, Teslim Igbalaye, also joined the governor during the visit to Ipetumodu after regaining his freedom from police custody.
Osun State is scheduled to hold its governorship election on August 15, with candidates from 14 political parties contesting for the state’s top office.
