Newly elected President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya (SAN), has pledged to prioritise the welfare and professional growth of lawyers, promising reforms that will improve legal practice across the country.
In a statement issued on Sunday after being declared winner of the NBA presidential election, Eko Hot Blog gathered that Badejo-Okusanya thanked members of the association for the confidence reposed in her, describing her election as a mandate for positive change.

She said the outcome of the poll reflected the collective desire of lawyers for an NBA that is more effective, inclusive and responsive to the needs of its members.
According to her, interactions with lawyers during the campaign exposed her to the challenges facing the profession, and those engagements would shape the direction of her administration.
She assured members that their concerns would remain central to her leadership, stressing that the association must work harder to create better opportunities for legal practitioners.
Badejo-Okusanya also appealed for unity within the Bar, urging supporters of all candidates to put the election behind them and work together in the interest of the legal profession.
She praised the other contestants for participating in the democratic process and expressed her willingness to collaborate with them in advancing the objectives of the association.
The senior advocate expressed appreciation to her campaign team, volunteers, supporters, family and friends for their commitment throughout the election period, while reserving special thanks for her husband for his unwavering encouragement and support.
She promised to lead with transparency, fairness, integrity and accountability, adding that her administration would focus on ensuring that lawyers enjoy improved welfare, stronger professional support and a more vibrant association.
Badejo-Okusanya said the election marked the beginning of a new phase of responsibility, pledging to justify the trust placed in her by members.
She was declared winner of the NBA presidential election by the Electoral Committee after polling 12,317 votes, ahead of Lateef Akangbe (SAN), who secured 7,934 votes, and Olumuyiwa Akinboro (SAN), who received 5,855 votes.
Her victory makes her the 33rd President of the Nigerian Bar Association and only the second woman to occupy the office, after Priscilla Kuye, who led the association between 1991 and 1992.
Badejo-Okusanya will serve as NBA president for the 2026–2028 term, succeeding Afam Osigwe (SAN).
