President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting freedom of religion, describing faith-based organisations as critical partners in promoting national unity and development.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the President stated this on Saturday during the commissioning of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria (ADSN) National Headquarters, the Hassanat Abebi Okunnu House, in Surulere, Lagos.

Represented by the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), Tinubu said religious institutions play a vital role in strengthening social cohesion and advancing national development.
He commended the century-old Islamic organisation for its contributions to education, healthcare, moral development and humanitarian services, stressing that sustainable growth requires stronger collaboration between government and faith-based organisations.
Tinubu also praised elder statesman Alhaji Femi Okunnu (SAN), who donated the newly commissioned headquarters in memory of his late mother, Alhaja Hassanat Abebi Okunnu.
He described the donation as a lasting legacy of faith and philanthropy that would continue to benefit generations.
“There can be no greater testimony to a person’s character than the quality of the children they leave behind. A tree is known by its fruits, and a mother’s legacy is most clearly reflected in the lives of those she nurtured,” the President said.
Speaking at the event, Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, urged the leadership of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society to remain committed to its founding ideals by promoting education and moral values.
Hamzat recalled the organisation’s role in expanding access to Western education for Muslim children at a time when educational opportunities were limited, noting that many generations continue to benefit from those efforts.
He, however, expressed concern over what he described as the declining moral values among young people and called for renewed efforts to instil discipline and good character.
In his remarks, the National President of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society, Alhaji Mosediq Kazeem (SAN), described the inauguration of the new national headquarters as the fulfilment of a long-standing vision.
He said the building symbolises the society’s renewed commitment to national service, education and community development.
