The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a medical doctor, a traditional birth attendant and the parents of a newborn baby over the alleged sale of the infant for N2.5 million.
Eko Hot Blog reports that police sources disclosed that the 28-year-old mother and her boyfriend allegedly decided not to keep the child after delivery and began making arrangements to sell the baby.

Investigations revealed that the couple was linked to a prospective buyer in the Ikorodu area through intermediaries who allegedly facilitated the transaction.
According to findings, the expectant mother was initially taken to a traditional birth attendant for delivery. However, complications reportedly arose during labour, necessitating her transfer to a private hospital in Ikorodu.
At the hospital, a medical doctor, who police identified as the principal suspect, allegedly performed a Caesarean section that saved both the mother and the baby.
Detectives alleged that plans for the sale of the newborn were finalised shortly after the delivery within the hospital premises.
The infant was subsequently handed over to an unidentified buyer after a payment of N2.5 million, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the suspect, who remains at large.

Following the development, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Fatai Tijani, ordered the transfer of the case from Area E Command, Festac, to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a detailed investigation.
The case, which involves allegations of conspiracy, child stealing and human trafficking, is currently being handled by the Anti-Human Trafficking/Gender Unit of the SCID under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police Dayo Akinbisehin.
Police said investigations are ongoing to uncover all individuals connected to the alleged trafficking network and ensure that those involved are brought to justice.
