Troops of Sector 1, Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have destroyed a suspected terrorist hideout and arrested five suspects during a clearance operation in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State.
Eko Hot Blog reports security sources said the operation was carried out at about 11:00 a.m. on August 1, targeting suspected terrorist enclaves in Atombagen, Chito, Tse Kighr, Tse Anaka and Sabongida Leke.

According to the sources, the suspected terrorists fled the area before troops arrived. However, five individuals were arrested at Sabongida Leke over alleged links to criminal activities in the community.
The troops also destroyed the suspected hideout and several structures believed to have served as operational and logistics bases for the criminal group.
A military source said the operation was aimed at denying armed groups freedom of movement and dismantling their operational infrastructure.
The source added that the clearance mission forms part of ongoing military operations across the Benue axis to disrupt the activities of armed groups and restore security in affected communities.
According to another military source, the five suspects are currently in custody and will undergo further investigation as security operations continue in the area.
