At least four Nigerians have been arrested in separate anti-narcotics operations carried out by Indian law enforcement authorities in an intensified crackdown on alleged drug trafficking.
Eko Hot Blog reports that one of the suspects, identified as Ugochukwu Nwabugo, sustained multiple injuries after allegedly jumping from the sixth floor of a residential building in an attempt to escape arrest during a raid by India’s Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).

According to Indian authorities, the incident occurred on Monday night in Gandhi Colony, Mehrauli, South Delhi, after the NCB acted on intelligence regarding suspected narcotics trafficking.
The agency alleged that officers stormed the apartment and found occupants attempting to destroy evidence by flushing suspected narcotic substances down the toilet. Investigators also claimed they discovered traces of cocaine on the apartment walls and on the bodies of the suspects.
During the operation, the NCB said it recovered 318 grams of cocaine and six grams of heroin. Two other Nigerians, Gabriel Uchenna and Igwe Joshua, were arrested at the scene.
The agency stated that Nwabugo suffered injuries to her head, back, and leg after the fall. Officers immediately took her to Fortis Hospital before she was transferred to the AIIMS Trauma Centre, where she is currently receiving treatment and is said to be recovering.
The NCB added that investigations into the case are ongoing.
In a separate anti-drug operation, another Nigerian identified as Igwe Chinudde was arrested in Morjim in connection with the seizure of five kilograms of cannabis (ganja) in Navelim.
Indian police said Chinudde’s arrest followed an earlier operation in which another suspect, Mohammad Azharuddin Nur Mohammad, was arrested after authorities recovered the cannabis.
Investigators said they later established Chinudde’s alleged connection to the case, leading to his arrest. Police added that efforts were continuing to identify other individuals linked to the suspected drug network.
The latest arrests come amid a series of anti-narcotics operations involving Nigerian nationals in India.
In June, a 41-year-old Nigerian woman reportedly died after allegedly jumping from the fourth floor of a residential building during a Delhi Police raid on a suspected synthetic drug laboratory. Authorities had recovered chemicals, laboratory equipment, and suspected narcotic substances during that operation.
A similar incident was also recorded in 2017, when another Nigerian national reportedly died after allegedly jumping from the fourth floor of a building during a police raid in Chhatarpur.
