Algeria and Morocco have secured places at the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup after reaching the semi-finals of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that Algeria made history by qualifying for the tournament for the first time after overturning a deficit to defeat Côte d’Ivoire 2-1 in their quarter-final clash.

Morocco also booked their ticket to Brazil with a 2-1 victory over South Africa, earning a place in the continental semi-finals.
Under the qualification format, the four teams that reach the WAFCON semi-finals automatically qualify for the 2027 Women’s World Cup.
Two more African teams will join Algeria and Morocco after the remaining quarter-final matches are completed.
Cameroon will face Nigeria, while Malawi will battle Ghana on Sunday, with the winners of both encounters securing automatic qualification for the global tournament.
The losing teams from those matches will still have another route to the World Cup through the FIFA Play-Off Tournament.
Côte d’Ivoire and South Africa, who were defeated in the quarter-finals, will meet in a play-off on August 13. The winner of that encounter will advance alongside one of the other two losing quarter-finalists.
The 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup will be hosted by Brazil.
