The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding access to quality library services across communities, describing libraries as important platforms for learning, discovery and human capital development.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the government said it was focused on bringing library services closer to residents, particularly children and young people, while creating spaces that encourage reading, learning and community development.

The state disclosed this in a post on its official X handle on Thursday.
It described a library as more than a facility for storing books, stressing its role in providing residents with opportunities to acquire knowledge and develop new skills.
“A library is more than a building filled with books. It is a gateway to knowledge, a space for learning, discovery and opportunity,” the government said.
According to the state, its vision is to develop welcoming library spaces where children can cultivate reading habits, young people can learn and communities can access opportunities for personal and educational development.
The government also linked investment in library services to broader efforts to strengthen human capital and prepare residents for the future.
It said sustained investment in libraries would ultimately contribute to the development of a more knowledgeable and productive population.
“Because when we invest in libraries, we invest in people. And when we invest in people, we build the Lagos of tomorrow,” it added.
