- Dabiri-Erewa Hails 2 Nigerian Academics Promoted to Professors in Saudi Arabia

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has celebrated the elevation of 2 Nigerian academics, Dr Muhammad Abubakar Dalhat and Prof. Moruf Olalekan Yusuf, to the rank of Professor in Saudi Arabia.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Chairman/CEO of NiDCOM, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, described the achievements as a source of pride for Nigeria and the Nigerian community in the diaspora.
Dalhat was promoted to Professor at the College of Engineering, Transportation and Traffic Engineering, Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University, while Yusuf was elevated to Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Hafr Al Batin.
Yusuf is also the Chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers, Eastern Province Chapter, Saudi Arabia.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by NiDCOM’s Director of Media, Public Relations and Protocols Unit, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Dabiri-Erewa said the achievements demonstrated the quality and expertise of Nigerian professionals contributing to global development.
Dalhat holds a PhD in Civil Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals and has developed expertise in pavement design, artificial intelligence-driven material optimisation and sustainable construction materials.
He has several patents in asphalt material innovation and numerous publications in high-impact journals, while also contributing to academic quality assurance and accreditation at his institution.
Yusuf holds a First Class degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Ibadan, a Master’s degree from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals and a PhD in Concrete Technology from Universiti Sains Malaysia.
His research interests include sustainable construction materials, alkali-activated binders and geopolymer concrete. He has more than 50 peer-reviewed publications and over 2,000 citations.
Dabiri-Erewa commended the 2 academics for their contributions to teaching, research, mentorship and professional service, noting that their achievements further demonstrated the impact of Nigerians in the diaspora.
She said their accomplishments not only benefited their host institutions but also projected a positive image of Nigeria internationally.
The NiDCOM chairman reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to recognising Nigerians excelling in different fields across the world, describing their success stories as an important source of national pride.
She also encouraged Dalhat and Yusuf to continue mentoring younger Nigerians, particularly those pursuing academic and professional careers in Saudi Arabia.
Dabiri-Erewa said such mentorship would help equip the next generation with the knowledge and expertise required to contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s development.
