Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to direct security agencies to prevent any attempt to disrupt the collation of results from Saturday’s governorship election.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Adeleke made the appeal in a statement posted on his X handle on Saturday night, expressing concern over alleged attempts by what he described as “desperate and rejected politicians” to hijack or disrupt collation centres across the state.

The governor urged President Tinubu to issue a clear directive to security agencies deployed for the election to protect the integrity of the collation process.
“Reports of attempts to hijack or disrupt collation centres by desperate and rejected politicians across the state are deeply concerning and unacceptable,” Adeleke said.
He said the large number of security personnel deployed across Osun should be sufficient to protect voters, electoral officials and collation centres.
Adeleke specifically called on the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services, Nigerian Army, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and other security agencies to remain professional and ensure that the electoral process is not compromised.
He also urged the Federal Government to provide the Independent National Electoral Commission with the necessary support to complete the collation and declaration of results.
The governor appealed to Tinubu to reaffirm his commitment to ensuring that the votes of Osun residents count and that the final outcome reflects their choice.
“The people of Osun State have spoken with one voice, and their voices must be heard. Their votes must be protected, and their mandate must be respected,” he said.
His appeal comes as INEC continues the collation and uploading of results from the governorship election on its IReV Results Viewing Portal.
With voting concluded, attention has shifted to the collation and declaration of results amid heightened political expectations over the outcome of the closely contested election.
